Sphoorthi is a privately funded, non-profit, non-governmental organization that believes in achieving a better world by using the past rich experience of elders to shape the future of children. In essence, Sphoorthi is a movement to encourage adults to positively influence and guide children, who are future of this world

Sphoorthi is the physical form of a dream that has taken its shape over a decade. We at Sphoorthi believe that providing just food, shelter, clothing and education is not enough for the children to make them better citizens of the world. Constant guidance and loving environment are absolute necessities that are often ignored. Apart from children, we have observed that many parents and seniors who had sacrificed their lives for their family, community, or country are often ignored by their kith and kin instead of giving them the respect, dignity and peaceful life they deserve.

"Every fire starts with a spark!" Sphoorthi humanitarian trust today is the initial spark of the movement we dream of. Established in February 2003, its initial operations started in Visakhapatnam, India. Click here to read about Sphoorthi's current activities.

Realizing the magnitude of the dream, we at Sphoorthi are working to create an example for the participants of the movement by establishing a community for seniors and children. Our intent is to create a serene and structured environment that will provide love, care and affection along with basic necessities to the elderly and children. We hope to encourage interested elders and children to form a one-on-one relationship to help children get the personal attention they need and, to elders, the treasured grand child relationship. As a result, we hope to provide an overall loving family environment for both children and senior citizens.
